Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa - Our Story

Escape and indulge on our historic Hudson River estate just 70 miles north of New York City.

Originally built as a trading post in 1680, Buttermilk Falls Inn was later bought by the Smith family and turned into the Smith homestead in 1764.

Over the past few years Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa has been renovated and expanded to combine modern luxury and comfort with historic elegance and charm.

Each of the 13 unique guest rooms, including those in our three carriage houses, features a fireplace, private bath, cable, high-speed internet, air-conditioning, and fantastic view.

Our 70-acre estate on the banks of the Hudson has been carefully landscaped to preserve its natural beauty. Stroll through exquisite gardens, flowering terraces, and wild flower fields. Hike past ponds, brooks, streams, and waterfalls as swans serenely glide by.
