Buttermilk Falls local flavors, superb taste…

While Buttermilk’s guests still slumber cozily in their beds, just about the time the estate’s two rooster’s cockadoodle sunrise, our chef is piling just-laid organic eggs into his basket.

The next stop is the kitchen garden to clip fragrant herbs – which will star in this morning’s breakfast buffet. No matter the season, our chef seeks out superior local produce from the region’s farms, orchards and wineries to create the freshest, healthiest and most flavorful meals possible.

Buttermilk's chef strategy is to start with the very best ingredients. Guests say the cooking style enhances the foods flavor yet is refreshingly “honest.” “Quality food needs – little or no frying, no masking sauces – but is vividly enhanced using recipes that are regional and ethnic in origin,”. The brunch buffet is laden with choices such as cooked-to-perfection popovers, warm crunchy blueberry almond muffins, sizzling maple-smoked slab bacon, Crepes Suzette, and buttermilk blueberry pancakes and waffles drizzled with Hudson Valley-made jams, jellies and syrups and gourmet omelets made with farm fresh eggs.

If you would like to enjoy lunch at the inn or at the spa, The Hudson Baking Company is available for delivery until 2:30pm and The Wagon Wheels Deli is available until 8:30pm. They have a wonderful assortment of fresh baked breads, daily soup and lunch specials, and delicious sandwiches. You may contact them directly or we can assist you in making your orders.

Guests can heighten their Buttermilk spa experience with an après Spa Luncheon walk about 70-acre estate’s park like grounds with lavish gardens and breathtaking views of the Hudson River. Favorite guest activities include strolling over the wooden bridge for views of the pond’s giant carp and pure white swans en route to the Peacock and Chicken Rookery, an endearing cottage with Hansel and Gretel charm.

AFTERNOON TEA
Afternoon Tea is served daily. Special herbalized teas go well with petite sandwiches such as cucumber and chicken salad sandwiches and smoked salmon wrap. The teas also compliment a medley of sweets including Double Fudge Brownies, Macaroons, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Lavender Pound Cake—made from Buttermilk’s estate-grown lavender. In winter après cross country ski, horseback riding and museum jaunts are met with divinely rich cocoa made from freshly grated chocolate as well as fragrant teas.

Fine dining is a stone’s throw away from Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa, but on Wednesday nights you won’t need to drive. Buttermilk offers a special Mid-Week package that includes a three course meal served right on site. Call or email us for the seasonal dinner menu.
