Just a few miles south of us in the town of Marlboro, Benmarl Winery boasts to be the oldest vineyard in America! Be sure to listen to their story as you get a guided tour through the winery and enjoy a tasting in their beautiful wine tasting room. Purchase a bottle of their wine and enjoy a leisurely stroll along their hilltop grounds while taking in awe-inspiring vistas of the Hudson Valley.
Stoutridge Vineyard
In the neighboring town of Marlboro, Stoutridge Vineyard offers more to the history of the Hudson Valley! Located on the base of a ridge where grapes have been grown for over 200 years, Stoutridge works to gain sustainability. With wines made from locally grown grapes and the use of geothermal energy, Stoutridge attracts the eco-friendly and aware as well as the wine enthusiast!
The Shawngunk Mountains (pronounced “shong – gum” but locally and lovingly coined “the gunks”) border the Mid – Hudson Valley to the west and offer a majestic back drop for many of our local wineries. The Shawngunk Wine Trail showcases 11 wineries, 10 of which are family owned, along with a plethora of other farms & orchards to visit along the way.

Parks & Preserves
Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa is located near an abundance of NY state parks and Scenic Hudson preserves. These parks and preserves offer scenic views on thousands of acres of natural forest.
Just 25 miles from Buttermilk Falls, Minnewaska State Park offers nature at its best. Open all year long and easily accessible by car, Lake Minnewaska offers swimming in the summer and its shore line is the perfect spot for a picturesque picnic! Minnewaska State Park offers hiking and biking on well manicured gravel carriage paths. For the more rugged hikers there are miles of hiking trails with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Recent restoration of one of the areas landmark architectural features breathes new life into an old railroad bridge which spans the Hudson River from Highland to Poughkeepsie. The Walkway over the Hudson offers a magnificent display of the Hudson River and its surrounding Valley. Franny Reese Scenic Hudson Preserve
Named after one of Scenic Hudsons’ founding members, Franny Reese preserve offers trails featuring the Hudson River, the FDR Mid Hudson Bridge and ruins of old estate houses. The preserve is also linked to the Walkway over the Hudson VIA Johnson – Iorio memorial park. Just 2.5 miles north of Buttermilk Falls, the Franny Reese Preserve is a close option for a quick hike or a relaxing stroll. Trail map
Black Creek Scenic Hudson Preserve
Beautiful riverside views of the Hudson are in abundance on this preserve! This preserve was purchased by Scenic Hudson to save it from development, and it now leads a duel – life as an education center for local communities and a recreational area for all to enjoy! Trail map
